Concerned Owner on Merrill Drive
It has been brought to the boards attention a man has been in our neighborhood asking owners for bottles to recycle for money. An owner on Merrill Drive found him on the back deck a couple of weeks ago looking for bottles and she told him her son was keeping them but when the owner went back inside the house he took the bottles from the deck. Please contact Ultimate if you have had an encounter with this man, he pushes a shopping cart, or any other situation of this nature. Thank you.

I have encountered this person before when he knocked on my door and asked if he could have the empty bottles we had on our deck. He was very polite, and was just looking for a way to make some money. I would suggest if you don't want this person on your deck, I would keep your bottles inside or return them to the bottle depot.
I concur with the first comment. I believe his name is Harold. When I moved in a few years ago he knocked on the door and introduced himself and explained that he comes around on a regular basis to collect bottles. He is harmless, just a guy trying to make a living as best he can.
Hi, Harold also introduced himself to me several years ago when he started coming into the complex to collect bottles. I had been keeping the bottles in my unit but my son put them on the deck by mistake. I heard noise on the deck and was very startled to see Harold there rummaging around - I specifically asked him not to take them for the next while as my kids were saving up for a video game - yet the next day they were gone - he did not ask if he could take them. This makes me leery about what else he may help himself to. Making an honest living is one thing but respect for people's property is another.
I have not seen this man around but have been ripped off my him or someone else!
I had 2 bins of cans on my deck which were emptied without my permission. He has no right to come on my personal property and help himself to anything.
I was quite concerned and creeped out about this. Not for the loss of money but for the invasion of my personal space and fear of who what else they may be up to. Being a single women with child at home - I feel this is cause for concern.
