Recycling

Reminder

Our recycling is picked up each Thursday. The Board encourages you to recycle as we are paying for the service for each townhouse.

Recycling bins are not to be stored on front steps. Please keep them on your back deck or inside your home.  Recycling bins left on front steps will be removed.

Happy New Year

The Board and Ultimate Property Management would like to wish you and your family a Happy and Prosperous New Year!

Post Holiday Recycling Tips (from the City of Calgary)

Wrapping paper can be recycled as long as it doesn't contain any foil, ribbons, bows or string.  Crumple it into a ball and put it loose in your blue bin or community recycling depot bin.

Electronics - There are nearly 30 electronics recyclying depots throughout the city that will accept your old TVs, computers and accessories.

For more tips and information visit calgary.ca/waste or contact 311.

Christmas Tree Recycling

Waste & Recycling Services will pick up Christmas trees from Calgary households that currently receive City residential garbage collection.

Place your tree on the ground near your black cart collection spot.  It will be picked up within three weeks.

Your tree must be out by 7 a.m. on January 8, 2013.

Drop-off: The City will also have eight temporary drop-off depots for trees:

These locations will be open: December 28, 2012 to January 27, 2013.
•Fire Hall #15 – 6328 35th Ave. N.W.
•Prarie Winds Park – 223 Castleridge Blvd. N.E.
•Bottomlands Park – St. Georges Drive and Seventh Avenue N.E.
•Marda Loop Community Association– 3130 16th St. SW.
•Parks Compound – 10312 Sacramento Dr. S.W.
•Spyhill Landfill – 69th Street and 112th Avenue N.W.
•East Calgary Landfill – 17th Avenue and 68th Street S.E.
•Shepard Landfill – 114th Avenue and 68th Street S.E.

For landfill hours, visit calgary.ca/waste or contact 311.

The trees collected by the program are chipped into mulch, put into windrows where the internal temperature reaches a point that will remove pests like gypsy moth larvae. The mulch is used in green spaces around Calgary and available at no extra charge to residents.

Keeping trees out of the landfills helps extend the life of landfills, reduces greenhouse gas and produces a useful resource. The annual Christmas tree recycling program is just one of many ways that Calgarians can reduce, reuse and recycle to help The City achieve its goal of diverting 80 per cent of its waste by the year 2020.
