Compost Bin Removal - Reminder

June is fast approaching and we wanted to remind everyone any composting bins on the property as of June 1 will be removed. The board has decided not to allow the large compost bins due to the large volume of units on the property. If you own a bin and have a copy of past condo board approval to have it on the property along with the receipt of payment for the bin the current board is prepared to reimburse you the $25.00 cost of the bin. If you would like to give your bin to family or a friend please make sure it is removed by June 1.

Thank you

Hi,

I just wanted to say that I am deeply disappointed at your decision to outlaw compost bins. I have talked to many people in the area and they are in favor of them. As well, if you walk up the hill to the housing cooperative, you will notice a group of the bins there. Obviously some people have no problems with them.

I was encouraged by my 7 year old daughter to start composting and she can't believe how old -fashioned and unconcerned adults are about the planet. I suppose it is an early lesson of the sorts of people she will have to continue to deal with in life. Thanks-you for being a great example to her!!!!

While I understand your concern for maintaining these bins, I think that if you take a walk around the compound, you will see that those of us who do compost actually have tidier yards than those that don't - we care about what happens to our trash.

I only wonder if you will outlaw the new blue boxes that we will all be receiving shortly from the city. Certainly, these too, like compost bins can be misused.

I appreciate the democratic process behind this decision and will certainly donate my bin to a person who actually cares.
In the meantime, any suggestions what I should I do with the contents of my composter????????

It is a pleasure to live in this forward thinking community!!!

we don't get blue boxes as we are a condo complex.

I am also extremely disappointed in the Condo boards decision to ban compost bins. I can’t believe this board has chosen the short term appearance over the long term affects of not composting. This is a huge mistake. I really wonder if people would move into this community if they knew the condo boards views. I know I would have thought twice.
